Dar es salaam/Mahale Mountains National Park
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Kigoma Town, on arrival meet and transfer to Sigunga by vehicle for about 2hrs to board the fiber boat to Mahale Mountains National Park, evening leisure at the beach on Lake Tanganyika. Mahale’s unique features are the existence of Fauna of three different vegetations in one area; tropical rain forest animals, savanna animals and miombo forest animals. Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Mahale Mountains National Park
Today you will have morning and afternoon Chimpanzee tracking in the forest. The Park is mainly famous for housing some of the last remaining wild Chimpanzees in the world. There are between 700 to 1,000 Chimpanzees in Mahale divided into different communities. The habituated Mimikere community studied by the Japanese since 1965 presently has about 80 Chimpanzees and its territory is close to our lodge. Dinner and overnight will be at Kungwe Beach Lodge. Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking in Mahale Mounatins National Park
Morning after breakfast, you will have another chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Other primates found at the Park include Yellow Baboon, monkeys such as Vervet, Blue, Red Tailed and Red Colobus. The endemic Angolan Black and White Colobus is found at the higher slopes of Montane Forest. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded at the Park, some interesting ones include the Crowned Eagle, Scaly Francolin, Crested Guinea-Fowl, Ross’s Turaco, Giant Kingfisher etc including the endemic and globally threatened Kungwe Apalis. Day 4: Mahale Mountains National Park/Ruaha National Park
After breakfast, transfer by boat to the airstrip for your light aircraft to Ruaha National Park, lunch will be at the lodge. Evening short game drives in the park or relaxation at leisure at Ruaha River Lodge. Meals Plans; Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
